Coronavirus/ Covid 19 Virus
There is an atmosphere of chaos everywhere. We all are scared. News channels, Social media Doctors & Governments are educating about the health hazard & safety from deadly virus Covid-19 Virus. More than 10,000 peoples have been died & have held million. It starts from Wuhan, China & infected maximum countries of the world. Till now no vaccines and medicines are available for a cure, prevention & precaution is only the way to protect our self & others. According to WHO precautions on coronavirus, there are some set of precautions that should be taken to stay away from this deadly virus.
Basic protective measures we should follow against the new Nobel Coronavirus/ Covid-19 Virus
- Regularly and frequently wash your hands with an alcohol-based hand sanitizer or wash with soap and water.
- Social distancing is very important, maintain a minimum 1-meter distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing and don’t be a part of the crowd.
- Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth, wash or sanitize hand before touch.
- Cover your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze. Then dispose of the used tissue immediately in a closed bin.
- Most important, don’t be panic & stay at home & keep up good hygiene in and around.
But people are using face mask as an additional precaution to get rid of Corona or Covid – 19 but according to WHO guidelines there is no use of face masks if you are not a Corona patient. But if you are a Corona patient then it is very important to cover your face with a mask and ensure safe disposal of Covid-19 infected mask.
Why Safe Disposal of Covid 19 Virus-Infected Face Mask & Tissue is important?
We don’t have any correct data about the life span of Corona or Covid-19 virus, some researchers has said that it can survive 24-72 hours outside on different surfaces, and others having an opinion that it can survive up to 9 days.
Cleaning, sanitization & disinfection are the ways to control the coronavirus infection, but the sweeper must be equipped with personal protective equipment. According to WHO guidelines on How to put on, use, take off and dispose of a mask.
The disposal of used face mask, tissues & hand gloves are major concerns, these all are being used by the infected, carriers & non – infected persons, it should be disposed of in a closed bin and collected by the bio-medical waste disposal agency. If we leave it in an open area or in the general bin then it may infect the municipal workers & sweepers. The use of masks & sanitizer is good for self-protection but the disposal of these items must be as per the guidance of the health and sanitation department.
Such types of items are also known as biological pollutants or biomedical waste, having harmful effects on all ecosystems. Proper disposal is needed to control the biological pollution. Incineration is only the available technology for these types of hazardous wastes. These items must be incinerated with other biomedical wastes at the bio-medical waste incinerator sites.
Special Note: There is no any confirmed source of coronavirus that has been detected by scientists but one thing which I want to make clear here that if we will not maintain a balance with nature then we have to deal with these kinds of problems further in our life. Pollution control is very important these days because nowadays we are affecting the balance of nature and facing these kinds of problems in our life. I have started the Safeguard Environment blog with the same motivation so that we can be aware and learn new ways to control pollution and make our planet livable for us and our upcoming generations.
